Do I need to have California motorcycle insurance?

Carinsurance.yoll.net - try this one. I have their car insurance and, as I know, they can provide such a service.

I’m sure there are lots of lawyers that would be interested in taking the case, so let the lawsuits fly.
In California EVERY motorcycle rider must have either a Class M1 (motorcycles) or M2 (mopeds, scooters, etc,) motorcycle license. Every motorcycle must be registered and insured, and every rider must wear a helmet.
To get a motorcycle license you will need to take a driving test on the motorcycle at specific DMV offices that have a closed course designed for that purpose.
Mopeds, scooters and very small motorcycles are prohibited in freeways. The tiny so called "crotch rocket" motorcycles are totally illegal on any public road.

you will need to get a motorcycle permit first. It is justa written test at dmv. Then you typically do a training class. Look in the yellow pages. Most of the classes do a hands-on training day and some classroom, then if you pass the test you get your motorcycle license. A class C driver's license (for a car) doesn't count for a bike. Start with the dmv website.

The last bike I purchased from a dealer, they made sure I had insurance before delivery.
However, if you have full coverage insurance for your car, most insurance companies will cover you until you can get the new vehicle (a couple of days, at most) added to the policy.
Either way, It's the vehicle owner who is responsible for carrying insurance, where here in California, it is mandatory!
