ok well to start go with the 500…its cheaper right now and it would be good to show your parents that bikes aint that bad. as to the permit and lisence stuff, no a permit is not the same as a lisence but since you are taking the MSF course when you get done with the course take the certificate to the DMV and you will have your motorcycle endorsment on drivers lisence. now i dont know how to convince your parents on the idea of a motorcycle you might just have to tough it out until you are 18. before you buy your bike start researching your insurance now…get qoutes from every place you can to compare. i was 19 when i got my bike and it took some time before i got a decent qoute, some places wont insure you and some is extremely high…because of your age and your experience, the MSF course will help with deductions b/c its a saftey course. i would buy a used bike b/c once you get comfortable and used to riding your gunna want to go bigger (i.e. 600,750) trust me…. i started at 600 and wouldnt never go anything less, but i was older and had more money and room for error. and having a used bike to learn on is good b/c careful or not you will not nessarily wreck but prob drop it or lay it down…no big deal, happens to everyone. you may not but its makes you feel better if its a used bike and not something bran new that you just drove of the lot. i hope that helps. stay safe dont be stupid, have fun riding, its one of the best times youll every have.

You do need to take your motorcycle endorsement test to be able to ride a motorcycle in Florida (legally). You used to just take a test at the DMV to get your motorcycle license but last year they made it mandatory to take the class. Go to your local H-D dealership or other motorcycle shop, they should offer the class. It will be around $250 for the class. 3 day course, once you pass you have your motorcycle endorsement. You do not need insurance, I would recommend getting it though my bike was stolen and it was a little 650cc suzuki savage. I didnt have insurance and still 2 yrs later no bike
A bike is provided to take the course. If you go to the H-D dealership you will most likely ride a Buell Blast. I took the class it was fairly easy to me.
